There is a simple way to discover the beauty of Villa del Balbianello: a few years ago, a specialized American site organized a survey of its own members, asking where in the world they would like their partner to ask them to marry them. The ranking that the results have given back is a journey through destinations of timeless charm and exotic atmospheres, but which they saw in the top positions as places like the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and Lake Como, bearing witness to the fact that the name “the world’s most romantic lake” is a serious thing: those who have been on its shores at least once can only agree.
Surely I agree with that statement all the personalities and exponents of the world jet-set (Hollywood celebrities, singers and sportsmen in the lead) who have chosen one of the many and beautiful historic homes on Lake Como as a location for their wedding fairytale. And among the most famous mansions there is Villa del Balbianello, which with its gardens has thrilled many couples from all over the world, who from those terraces, made famous by famous films (Star Wars: Episode II and 007 Casinò Royale among the more recent) have decided to pronounce the fateful “Yes”.
